Best wishes 2026 & objectives for the second half of the season

Dear all.

as we enter the second half of the season, I would like to warmly thank every one of you : player, parent, managers, coach, volunteer and committee member for the energy, passion and commitment you bring to the Zurich Rugby Academy. What we are building together goes far beyond rugby — it is a true community.

Looking ahead, our priorities for the months to come are clear:
To grow the rugby community in Switzerland and make rugby something the whole family lives and shares. This includes parents’ training sessions and strong moments off the pitch. On 22 February, we will unite as a club to support the Swiss national team against the Netherlands in Yverdon. Training will be exceptionally cancelled so we can travel together. On 8 February, a few of us will also travel independently; anyone who wishes to join is of course welcome - just DM me -

Expanding our active player base remains a key objective, with the aim of consistently fielding two teams per age group. This is already a success from U6 to U12, and the focus now shifts to U14, U16 and U19. The Schnuppertag on 29 March will be a key moment — we count on everyone to bring friends and future teammates along.

We will implement a Players’ Committee, with two representative players per age group (U12–U19), to ensure players’ voices are heard and actively shape the academy. And will continue to deepen our collaboration with adult clubs to support smooth transitions into senior rugby. Meetings with Valkyries, GC and RUZ will be planned.

None of this can be achieved alone. I count on the support, involvement and feedback of everyone. Our commitment remains unchanged: to run an open, vibrant and caring community, where everyone feels included, safe and heard. Thank you for being part of this journey. Let’s continue to grow — together.

With gratitude and confidence for what lies ahead,
Donald Pudney
President of Zurich Rugby Academy
